China has introduced scholarships for the academic year 2025-26, offering students from Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) the chance to pursue undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral studies in China. This initiative, part of the Chinese government’s educational scholarship program, aims to strengthen educational ties between the two nations. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan serves as the nominating body for this esteemed opportunity.
Who Can Apply
To qualify, applicants must hold Pakistani or AJK nationality. Individuals with dual nationality are not eligible. Applicants should meet the following educational and age requirements:
- For undergraduate programs: Completion of Intermediate, A-level, FA, or FSc (12 years of education) with an age limit of 25 years.
- For master’s programs: A bachelor’s degree (16 years of education) is required, with an age limit of 35 years.
Additionally, candidates must satisfy the admission criteria of Chinese universities, including academic qualifications and language proficiency. Applicants cannot be receiving any other scholarships at the time of application.
Assessment Criteria
Applicants must submit valid test scores for the Higher Education Aptitude Test (HAT) or the Undergraduate Studies Admission Test (USAT):
- HAT: Master’s and PhD candidates must achieve a minimum score of 50 out of 100. Scores must be dated December 9, 2022, or later.
- USAT: Undergraduate candidates also require a minimum score of 50, with scores valid from December 9, 2023, onward.
Applications that do not meet these score requirements will not be considered.
Advantages of the Scholarship
The scholarship includes coverage for tuition fees, administrative expenses, health insurance, and student activity costs. Furthermore, recipients will either receive free dormitory accommodation or an accommodation allowance. Monthly stipends will be granted in accordance with the Chinese Government Scholarship policies.

Interested candidates should apply online through both the HEC portal and the China Scholarship Council (CSC) website. Applicants must complete their profiles and submit the necessary documents, including a printed and signed application form. All applications must be submitted by 4:00 PM (Pakistan Standard Time) on Monday, December 9, 2024.
